The final week of the Basic Bobath Course at Tickhill Road Hospital, part of the Rotherham, Doncaster & South Humber NHS Foundation Trust, went really well! We had a great group of 19 physios who had all completed their Clinical Case Projects with their own patients back at home, in-between module 1 (the first 2 weeks of the course) and module 3 (the final week of the course).
This was a fun week that focused all their learning, clinical reasoning and critical reflections on linking the neurophysiology and human movement control underpinning the practical hands-on treatment skills together. We covered interesting human movement sequences such as moving in and out of side lying, developing overhead reach, and functional reach, shaping of the hand, and grasping of an object in tasks. We had a lively group of patients to work with in their rehabilitation programmes and everyone made progress achieving improved movement and balance.
"10 / 10 course: It has been really valuable to reappraise the way I work and learn new skills and knowledge that I can apply to my practice. I really felt that module 3 brought everything together from module 1 and 2 and consolidated it into a whole movement approach and this has changed by assessment and treatment approach."
"Excellent course: Combining the pathophysiology and underlying systems control with practical’s/workshops and then into patients sessions- bringing this all together and linking it is so helpful. The tutors also adapted the course consistently to address areas that the participants felt they needed more time on/to address which was excellent."
"Amazing course: The teaching of the theory and explanations of complex processors was excellent and the quality and skills of the Bobath tutors handling, treatment and knowledge is incredible, thank you for sharing this with us."
