Please join us in congratulating Tim Walton! We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Tim has officially qualified as an Advanced Bobath Tutor in IBITA and BBTA (international Bobath Instructors Training Association and British Bobath Tutors Association), marking a milestone for neurological physiotherapy education in the UK.

This incredible achievement highlights his dedication to helping patients recover from complex neurological conditions like stroke and brain injuries. As a Clinical leader at the Manchester Neurotherapy Centre and a longtime educator with the British Bobath Tutors Association (BBTA), Tim has spent decades mastering human movement and neuroscience. His new status allows him to train the next generation of therapists at the highest possible level.

Why This Milestone Matters

The Bobath Concept is a specialised, hands-on therapy approach used worldwide. It helps people with neurological conditions develop their potential for recovery. It focuses on improving patients posture, balance, and movement for regaining functional activity and independence.

Becoming an Advanced Tutor is a long and challenging process. It requires hours of clinical practice, teaching, and study of human movement science.

  • Expert Clinical Leadership: Tim brings over 25 years of specialist NHS and private experience to his teaching.

  • Advanced Problem Solving: He specialises in breaking down complex movement limitations, especially in upper limb and hand recovery.

  • High-Level Education: He can now lead advanced-level courses, helping other qualified physiotherapists and occupational therapists to develop their skills.

Tim’s Journey to the Top

Tim qualified as a physiotherapist from the Manchester Royal Infirmary School of Physiotherapy in 1990. He later completed his Master's degree at the University of Manchester in 2005.

He began his formal Bobath tutor training back in 2009. By 2015, he qualified as a Basic Course Tutor. Since then, he has taught introductory and Basic Bobath courses across the UK. This new step up to Advanced Tutor means he will now teach advanced clinical reasoning and highly specialised patient handling skills, on Advanced Bobath Courses.

Elevating Patient Care and Therapist Training

At the Manchester Neurotherapy Centre, Tim's advanced skills translate directly into rehabilitation for patients. The centre regularly hosts advanced training events where therapists from all over the world learn how to tackle tough rehabilitation challenges. Tim's passion is finding unique ways to help each individual patient reach their full potential.

Please join us in celebrating this wonderful news! Tim is a fantastic asset to our team. His continued passion for teaching brings invaluable benefits to our future course participants and everyone here at BBTA.

If you are a professional looking to advance your skills, you can explore upcoming educational opportunities on the BBTA Advanced Bobath Courses schedule.
